Goodwell, Okla.— The Aggies added another victory Saturday night to extend to a four-game streak as they defeated Mid-America Christian 80-71.
MACU took an early lead but the Aggies sank three from beyond the arch and added two by
Jaedon Whitfield from the free throw line to quickly edge within one point of the Evangels within the first five minutes (13-14). The two adversaries traded the lead through the first but a fast break field goal by
Khallid Edwards pulled Aggies ahead. They would not relinquish their advantage and exited the first half in the lead (42-37).
Early in the second half, holding a 69.6% average from the free throw line and another shot from beyond the arch by Breiman gave the Aggies an eleven-point advantage on the Evangels. The Aggie defense was formidable, led by
Baris Ulker who snagged 11 total rebounds. The team hit their stride and consistent field goals by
Thomas Ellis, Alan Hodge, Jr., Edwards and Whitfield continued the Aggie's ten point lead they would not surrender through to the end of the second half to seal the win.
Alexander sank 6-9 from behind the arch and earned a game-high 22 points, trailed closely by Whitfield who brought in 17 points for the Aggies. Ulker's 11 rebounds paired with his 13 points secured him a double-double, and just within the threshold was Hodge with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Edwards was 3-8 on field goals and secured 11 points.
This marks the fourth win on the road for the Aggies, and Head Coach
Aaron Coombs is elated for the triumph, stating, "Road wins are huge for us! We battled and really defended in the second half." He continued, "I'm very proud of how we rebounded and eliminated second chance points."
Coombs specified, "We need to clean up our turnovers going forward but other than that I thought we played a complete game." Reflecting on the victory Coombs stated, "We are learning how to win and our guys are having fun."
The Lady Aggies fell in their contest against MACU on Saturday, 77-87. The team outscored MACU in the final 20 minutes but they were unable to overcome the lead the Evangels had taken in the first two quarters.

The Aggies refused to back down, scoring 22 points each in the third and fourth quarters, and Head Coach

Esparza continued, "It's disappointing that we didn't get the win but I am proud of our team. Now we have to come ready to work and get ready for our two home games this week."
