LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second-consecutive night, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's basketball team played an exhibition game versus a quality NCAA Division II foe. And, for the second time, the Aggies found the going tough, losing to Lubbock Christian University, 95-46, at the Rip Griffin Center.
Panhandle never led versus the Chaparrals and the contest was tied for 1:38 minutes. OPSU also found itself out-rebounded by the veteran LCU squad, 39-19, leading to 12 second-chance points. The Aggies trailed 44-23 at the half, before the Chaps ran away with a 51-23 second half output.
OPSU sophomore transfer – and Goodwell High School product -
Quentin Fankhouser led his team with 12 points. Fankhouser had an efficient 5-of-10 game from the floor. He also led the Aggies with seven rebounds and two assists.
Auston Chatman and
Terrance Gibbons each booked 11 points for OPSU. Each also grabbed three rebounds. Chatman also buried a pair of three balls - as did
Brett Williams - for the visitors. Gibbons had Panhandle State's lone blocked shot.
Williams finished with six total points.
DK Sumo IV added four points and
Daniel Holyfield two, to cap the Panhandle State scoring.
Tristen Womble chipped in four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Panhandle State will get back to regulation contests on Saturday (Dec. 7/3 p.m.) when it travels to Barclay University in Haviland, Kan.
