Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Goodwell, Okla.— In a huge upset, Panhandle State defeated No. 21 John Brown University on Saturday, 80-75.

Head Coach Aaron Coombs stated proudly, "This win was so big because it keeps us on track to make the conference tournament." This SAC victory over the Golden Eagles pushes the Aggies to 14-9 on the season and 9-8 in conference play.

The Golden Eagles went into halftime ahead by two points, but the Aggies came back into the second half ready to retake the lead. JBU would have a 2(+) until the 14-minute mark and a shot from Alan Hodge, Jr. beyond the arch tied the score (52-52). A subsequent 3-ptr. from Alexander gave the Aggies some room to breathe and two more 3's from Hodge and Baris Ulker widened the gap. With less than four minutes left, the Aggies accrued a ten-point lead on JBU and the Golden Eagles would try but fail to fill the deficit. Panhandle would take the win, 85-70

Breiman Alexander led the team-high with 30 points and 4 rebounds, with Ulker bringing in 21 at the boards and 8 rebounds. Hodge secured 19 points and 6 rebounds, and Khallid Edwards brought in 11 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Coombs commented, "I thought we put together another game tonight where we played together for 40 minutes! The first half we hung in there and made some big plays every time they stretched the lead. I was very happy it was a 2-point game at halftime." Coombs continued, "The second half I thought was a high level defensive half. Breiman took the challenge of guarding Cauldle and did a phenomenal job. We rebounded well, defended, and moved the ball at a high level. That's how you win on the road."

The Aggie women fought hard in their battle against the Golden Eagles on Saturday, but JBU took home the victory, 86-59, putting Panhandle at 12-11 on the season and 8-9 in conference.

Head Coach Victor Esparza expounded post-game, "I thought we were pretty good in the first half and did some good things; we played really hard and should have been leading. We didn't come out in the second half ready and they put it to us. But we were able to get the split on the road [against Bacone] and that was big for us."
Addison Munsch was one point shy of the game-high with 25 points and 9 rebounds, and Nadia Hayes brought in 8 points at the boards and 10 rebounds. Hannah Faulks rounded out the team defensive highs with 6 points and 7 rebounds.

The team is coming off a big win on the road over Bacone, where guard Monti Regier broke the Panhandle State University record for 3's made in a game by sinking 10 against the Warriors.

The Aggies have a full week ahead with three home games over Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in Anchor D Arena. They will face a tough challenge against No. 10 Wayland Baptist on Feb. 12 with the women taking the court at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m. On Feb. 14 the Aggies will take on Oklahoma City University at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. During the games against the Stars, the Aggies will honor Breast Cancer Awareness and pay tribute to those whose lives have been touched by cancer. During the women's game, a silent auction will be held in the lobby of Anchor D Arena to auction off pink jersey's from the Lady Aggies basketball team. This year's Miss Panhandle State, Hannah Johnson, will also be putting on a silent auction in the lobby through the women's game until the end of halftime of the men's game, and will be donating the profits to cancer research. A special performance by the Elkhart Cheer Group "NmotioN" will also take place during men's halftime.

The Aggies close out the week with Saturday's contest against Southwestern Christian, with the women taking the court at 2p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m. This game will also serve as Senior Day to honor all our graduating athletes from both the women's and men's teams.

Live stats and video for all six games will be available on opsuaggies.com for those wanting to keep up at home.
