Goodwell, Okla.— The Panhandle State Cheer Team traveled to Oklahoma City for their second competition on Feb. 1. The OCU Classic saw three teams, including the host team, Oklahoma City, with Bethel College and Panhandle State.
The Aggies performed stunts and a dance portion, accruing a combined total of 42.73 from three judges after deductions. The team scored well in pyramids and jumps, and received high marks for overall execution of choreography. All three judges scored the Aggies high in showmanship and overall impression. OPSU then competed in a dual with OCU, scoring a combined total of 55.7 with only .5 in deductions.
Coach
Alyssa Freeman stated. "The competition at OCU was definitely a more challenging environment for my team, however I feel like the pressure of going up against two nationally ranked teams helped to boost the confidence of my cheerleaders." Freeman continued, "Their integrity to work harder and their energy and enthusiasm was much more present in this performance and I think it will definitely help in this upcoming week when we perform at the Sterling Competition."
Aggie Cheer competes again this week on Feb. 8 in Sterling, Kan. at the Sterling College Competition and on Feb. 9 at Bethel College.
