MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Freshman
Shay Audrain (Stratford, Texas/Stratford H.S.) and junior
Cassia McCaskill (Townsville, Australia/Trinidad State C.C.) proved to be a two-player wrecking crew, as the duo led the Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball team to an 83-66 non-conference win at Bacone College. The Aggie pair accounted for 60 of the team's total points, eight of OPSU's 10 three-point baskets and half of its steals.
The tandem also registered the top-two scoring games of the year for Panhandle State in the win over the Warriors.
Audrain continued her magical freshman campaign with a monster 32-point game. Audrain went 10-for-20 from the field overall, while drilling six treys and going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She also took care of matters on the defensive end of the floor, making a game-high four steals and blocking two shots, to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
Somewhat overshadowed by Audrain's big game, McCaskill was equally effective for the Aggies by tallying 28 points. McCaskill hit 12-of-18 field goals, among those a pair of three balls. She also pulled down four rebounds and had two steals.
Skylar Cleavinger came off the OPSU bench to chip in seven points and three rebounds. Senior
Nadia Hayes had a nice all-around effort of six points, two rebounds and three assists.
Senior
Lowendie Laporal had a team-best eight rebounds.
Kaylee Morgan had six assists to top all players in that category.
Panhandle State led wire-to-wire, going up 24-11 through one quarter and ahead 44-29 at the half. The Aggies extended their advantage to 69-46 after the third period.
As a team, OPSU shot nearly 47 percent (30-64) from the field and made good on 10-of-32 three-point attempts. The Aggies converted 13-of-16 (81 percent) from the charity stripe. Panhandle's defense forced the Warriors into 20 turnovers.
