Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Baseball Team played their three-game series finale against NAIA No. 3-ranked University of Science & Arts (Okla.) on Saturday. After a couple of close games the day before, the Drovers ran away with game three to complete the sweep against the Aggies by a score of 13-2.

Senior
Joseph Goetze got the nod but the USAO offense was on full display in Goodwell as they tallied 13 hits in total and drew seven walks. For the usually sure-handed Goetze, it was the shortest outing of his two seasons here at Panhandle State, going two and a third innings pitched, giving up two hits, four runs and three walks. He took the loss, pushing his record to 2-3 on the year in five starts.
Â
At the plate, Panhandle had to face Jean Muntaner, who threw a no-hitter against them a year ago. The Aggies were again playing without
Markus Bracey due to injury, who is, statistically, their best hitter on the year. In total, OPSU finished with two runs on six hits, two coming from senior leftfielder
Derek Stallworth. Stallworth singled in the first to start things off for the Aggies and then had a leadoff triple in the third. Junior
Chris Galvan went 1-for-3, pushing his hitting streak to six games now. Unfortunately, those seemed to be the only bright spots for the Aggies on the day.
Â
"Today was disappointing," reflects Head Coach
Shawn Joy. "We got away from everything that makes us who we are. We had a chance to compete with a great program and we didn't bring it. We had a great crowd here to watch us and we let them down."
Â
A heart-breaking weekend for the Aggies indeed, but they will have a quick turnaround as they head to Salina, Kansas on Tuesday for an inter-conference doubleheader with Kansas Wesleyan University. Game time is set for 2:00 PM CST.
