BETHANY, Oklahoma - The Oklahoma Panhandle State Men's soccer team headed to Bethany to take on the #25 Southwestern Christian University Eagles. Coming out with a 1-0 OT win on the game-winning goal from freshman
Liam Pritchard.Â
Â
In a heated match for the chance to reach the NAIA top 25 for men's soccer and a conference tournament bid, the game saw a total of 8 yellow cards in regulation. A regulation that ended with a tie score of nil-nil forced the match into overtime. The Aggies were far more conservative with their offense this go-around as they finished with 8 shots on the day while the Eagles finished with 18. However, the sheer number of shots on goal from the Eagles did not deter the previous "SAC Defensive of the Week"
Hugo Dutour, as he had 4 saves on every attempt he faced in the box.Â
Â
The Aggies would come out in the first overtime with a fierce attack. Pritchard would send the ball into the back of the net a mere 2 minutes into overtime for his eighth goal of the season. Pritchard currently leads the Aggies in every offensive category while assisting or scoring in every game for the Aggies.Â
Â
On the win, Head Coach Misuraca had to say he's "pleased with the team's ability to stick with the match plan and find the match-winner. It's great to achieve another top-25 win and secure a conference tournament bid with four matches to go. That said, we now shift our attention to the second leg of this road trip."
Â
The Aggies look to continue their hot streak as they stay on the road to face John Brown University on Monday, October 18th, followed by a return to Anchor D. Stadium Friday, October 22nd against the Texas Wesleyan Rams.Â
