CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University's baseball team was swept by NIA No. 22-ranked University of Arts and Science-Oklahoma (USAO) in a Sooner Athletics Conference series played at Bill Smith Ballpark. The Aggies fell in Friday's doubleheader, 3-0 and 11-0, before dropping Saturday's series finale, 10-4.
In game one of the series,
Markus Bracey collected two of OPSU's four hits in the contest, going 2-for 3.
Bracey also doubled as the starting pitcher for Panhandle State, going the complete game 6.0 innings and allowing six hits to the Drovers. He had one strikeout and walked two.
The other two Aggie hits came from
Lane Field, a single, and a double by
Jonathan Applebury.
The second game of the day was all USAO, as the Drovers pounded out 13 hits. OPSU's
Blake Tucker went 4.1 innings and took the loss. Tucker permitted nine hits and seven runs.
Colton Anderson had a 1.2 inning relief stint, giving up four runs. Tucker and Anderson each registered a pair of strikeouts, as well.
In Saturday's series finale, Panhandle scored first with a pair of runs in the top of the third. RBI singles from
Mekhi Edwards and Bracey put OPSU up 2-0 early.
But the nationally-ranked Drovers would score 10 unanswered runs over the next six frames to extend their lead to 10-2. The Aggies added a pair of unearned runs in the ninth for the 10-4 final score.
Chris Galvan had the only multi-hit game, going 2-for-4, with a double. He scored a run, as well.
Josiah Roundtree took the loss in the third game, working 4.0 innings and giving up six runs. He struck out three and walked two.
Austin Jacobs followed Roundtree and had 2.0 innings of work, giving up four hits and three earned runs.
Joseph Goetze tossed the final 2.0 frames, scattering four hits and allowing just one run. Goetze struck out three Drovers.
