FORT WORTH, Texas - Playing its fourth-consecutive game versus a Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball upper-echelon opponent, Oklahoma Panhandle State University fell at the league's current No. 2 squad – Texas Wesleyan University – by a 3-1 score. The Aggies (9-5, 4-4 SAC) lost to the Lady Rams (13-2, 7-1 SAC) by set scores of 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 18-25.
In its must-win set three, OPSU had its best attacking game, hitting .200. The Aggies could not break .100 in the three sets they lost.
Essence West was once again the Aggies' go-to player, taking 53 attack swings and sharing match-high honors with 18 kills. West hit .132 for the afternoon. She rolled up 15 digs and had three blocks, as well.
Newcomer
Rebecca Candido chipped in nine kills and two blocks. Freshman
Ana Pimenta, working her way back after an ankle injury, added eight kills and two blocks.
Setter
Celenia Toribio had 23 assists and four blocks.
Lesly Galarza had a double-double of 12 assists and 10 digs.
Ashley Sanchez topped Panhandle State's back row players with 17 digs.
Eduarda Souza and
Ebony Dykes led the OPSU blockers with six, apiece.
After setting a school record with nine-consecutive wins, the Panhandle team has now dropped four in a row versus the cream of the SAC crop.
The Aggies will next host SAC leader Oklahoma City University on April 2.
