Saints steal the series from the resilient Aggies

AMARILLO, Tx- Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies fell to Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) Saints in game three of a two-day series. The non-conference series at Hodgetown Stadium doubled as a Panhandle Alumni event with a private suite, free food and drinks, and free admission to three action packed games. President, Dr. Tim Faltyn, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Game 3 started off scoreless for the first two innings; it was the battle of the pitchers & defense. Each team only possessed one hit until the top of the 3rd inning, with OLLU able to get on the scoreboard. OLLU produced a 2 run score, following the bottom of the fourth, the Aggies were able to get 1 run.

In the sixth inning, both teams brought runners across the home plate. The top of the sixth inning we saw OLLU bring in 5 runs. The Aggies defense stepped up and were able to halt the Saints momentum, leaving 2-runners on base. At the bottom of the inning, the Aggies put together a great series. It started off with Markus Bracey hitting a single to shallow left, getting him on base. Next up to bat, Ethan Hunt, with a 2-run homer, over the center field fence on a 1-0 count.

In the inning for the Aggies, Logan Patterson started it off with a single to shallow center, followed another single by Luis Dermas. OLLU chose to walk Jonathon Applebury, loading bases for the Aggies. On deck was Mekhi Edwards and on a 3-2 count, hits a grand slam over the right field fence. Edwards, bringing in his teammates and, tying the ball game 7-7.

Unfortunately, Aggies were not able to stop the Saints, as they brought in 4 more runs in the next two innings. The Aggies would leave bases loaded in bottom of the eighth to remain scoreless the remainder of the game.
