OPSU Softball Season Comes To An End

CHICKASHA, OKLA- The season came to a close for the Aggies this evening, ending with a win over Langston University. The Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament consists of a pool play round with only first place moving on. The Aggies ended pool play with one win and two loss count over the two days (May 6^th and 7^th).

Game one for the Aggies was against Mid-American Christian University (MACU), at 1pm on May 6th. Kenley Yocom started the day off for the Aggies in the pitching circle, with three strike outs and a strike out percentage of .656. The seniors played a critical role in the batters box with Jaylinn Reyes, Camryn Pryor, Kinzie Jones, Audrey Sanchez and, Chrislyn Dovers all able to connect and put the Aggies on base. Reyes bringing in one RBI for the Aggies. However, Aggies were not able to over come MACU, losing 1-4.

The second game for the Aggies on May 6th followed the first one was against home team, University Science & Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). Yocom led the charge for the Aggies, pitching. Sanchez, Kayli Grove and, Brissa Rivera each had one hit for the Aggies. Aggies able to score 1 run against USAO, however, unable to stop USAO hitters. Aggies lost 1-4 to USAO.

Day two for the Aggies of the pool play consisted of one game. The Aggies faced the Langston University (LU) Lions. Aggies got on the scoreboard early in the game, bottom of the second when Kaitlyn Lord gets on base, next Caitley Adams singles on a fly ball to center field, advancing the runner. Sanchez connects and advances the Aggies runners again. Next up for the Aggies, was Dovers, who doubles on a line drive and, brings Adams home. Reyes singles on a line drive to center field, bringing home Sanchez and Dovers. Aggies up 3-0 on the Lions.

The bottom of the fourth inning, the Aggies were able to produce four more runs on the Lions. Reyes having a phenomenal day hitting .750, 2 RBIs and 1 run. Adams hitting .667, 1 RBI and 2 Runs in for the Aggies. Dovers hitting .333, 1 RBI and 1 run. Sanchez producing 2 RBIs. Yocom held strong in the pitcher's circle, leaving the Lyons scoreless. Aggies took the game 8-0.
