GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State Athletic Department continues its fundraising campaign for renovations to the softball and baseball fields. The Battle of the Dugouts allows the teams to revamp softball and baseball fields and add an state-of-the-art complex for both athletic programs. In addition, they are generously asking any previous Aggie athletes to invest in the future of Aggie softball and baseball. Such a campaign draws supporters to Aggie games to enjoy and poses an opportunity for both programs to draw in more recruits.

The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball and baseball programs have been transformed the most since the university transitioned from Division II to the NAIA in 2017. Fifth-year softball senior Kinzie Jones cannot contain her excitement for her final season at Panhandle State amid the renovations. Jones states, "the new renovations to the baseball and softball field have meant a lot to me. It has shown the support we have from the university and the community, and I am very thankful for that. The renovations will allow us to grow as a program and are very special to us, the current team members, and the ones to come. I can't wait to see how it turns out!"

Jones is not alone. The senior catcher from Aggie baseball, Zack Madrigal, who has been an Aggie since 2020, has praised both the administration and the Goodwell community. Madrigal, a California native, exemplifies the draws of Oklahoma Panhandle State and sharing, "Making me proud to be an Aggie as well as welcome to come back one day." He continues, "the renovations mean a lot to me, showing how this program has taken a turn in the right direction since I have been here, and I am excited to see the future of the program and its facilities."

Five-year Aggie baseball player and now Assistant Sports Information Director Chris Schraer shares his thoughts on the renovations. "The baseball and softball programs have been through a lot during my time here. From personnel changes and on-field changes, everyone has directly impacted both programs. However, it is easy to see how the support from the administration and the community has helped the Aggie program grow as a whole. Each new thing brings new life to what it means to be an Aggie, from new scoreboards to cement dugouts. I'm glad the program has come as far as it has and excited to see where it goes in the future."

With the help and support of all Aggies, both programs will raise funds necessary to complete Phase II. Donors will be able to designate their donation in the name of one graduating class to be honored as a team or donate individually. In addition, top donors will be honored with a dinner at the University of the President, Athletic Director, Baseball, and Softball coaches.
