DALLAS, TX. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Women's Basketball team continued on the travel weekend and competed against UNT – Dallas at Singing Hills Recreation Center.
The Aggies started off the first quarter a bit rocky on the offense, only putting 12 points on the score compared to UNT Dallas Trailblazers, which had 17 points. But, heading into the second quarter, the Aggies could capitalize on their defense, holding the trailblazers to scoring only 12 points and 17 points of their own. As a result, the Aggies and Trailblazers went into the half-tied 29-29.
The third quarter was challenging for the Aggies as they struggled to stop the Trailblazers. Aggies allowed the trailblazers to score 22 points compared to Aggie's 15 points. However, the Aggies did not give up; they returned and fought. In the fourth quarter, the Aggies fought back and pushed to tie the score a few times by scoring 22 points. However, the Trailblazers were able to move past the Aggies and win.
Two Aggies were able to finish with double-digit points, Seniors
Cassia McCaskill and
Laky Samo. McCaskill led the Aggies against the Trailblazers scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Samo had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Senior
Tateum Jones led the Aggies in rebounds. Jones had 9 rebounds, 8 points, 2 steals, and 5 assists.
Next up for the Aggies is to continue with Sooner Athletic Conference season play. Aggies will head to Plainview, Texas, to play Wayland Baptist University, Flying Queens on Tuesday, January 18th at 6 pm.
