Aggies Routed by Bluejays in Series Finale

WOODWARD, Okla. The Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team lost in their series finale against the Tabor Bluejays. A harrowing series for the Aggies as they lose their sixth straight.

Head Coach Shawn Joy looks to simplify the Aggie approach going into the week. "Today was very disappointing on every level. We did not represent Aggie Baseball the way that we should."

The Aggies come into game three with the hopes of reversing their fortunes after a rough start to the season. With the series win already secured, the Tabor Bluejays had no intention of letting up in game 3. The Bluejays scorched the Aggie pitching staff for twenty-four runs and twenty-five runs.

Juan Javier (0-2) made his second start of the season and would get the loss against the Bluejays. Looking to solidify himself as the game three starter, Javier would sit down the first two Bluejays in an orderly fashion. A missed pop-up would derail his first inning of work as the Bluejays would scratch one run off the missed opportunity. Javier would go only two and two-thirds in the game, allowing eight earned runs on ten hits. Command got the best of him on the day as he also had two free passes, two wild pitches, and a single HBP.

Corbin Bailey and Corbin Yandell would come out of the bullpen for the Aggies. Who would not fare much better than Javier. They would combine for three and a third innings pitched. The Bluejays would total fifteen hits, two of which being three-run home runs.

The Aggie hitters strove to get back on track at the plate in the final game of the series. Looking poised to do so as they took their first lead of the series in the second inning off a Luis Dermas single and Payton Brown SAC fly. The Bluejays didn't take kindly to the Aggie offense as they would answer with a six-spot in the bottom half of the inning.

The Aggies would effectively be shut out the rest of the game. Managing only two hits in the last five innings of the game. By the end of the game, the Aggies would number eleven strikeouts to go along with four hits

Panhandle State stays in Woodward for another game Tuesday, February 21st. Taking the field against the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm with first pitch at 3 PM.
