Hunt Perfect from the Plate Against D2 NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. - Panhandle State baseball played their second Division II opponent in as many weeks. Dropping today's game to the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers 13-10.

The Aggies came into the game against the Rangers after having swept the Bacone College Warriors. Having scored sixty runs in four games the Aggies looked to continue their offensive momentum against the Rangers. The Aggie bats stayed hot, totaling thirteen hits against the Rangers. However, errors and pitching troubles allowed the Rangers to mount a comeback.

Head Coach Shawn Joy knows the ability to finish games is what matters most. "We played very well and just came up short. A lot of our guys stepped up and did some good things."

Freshman RHP Juan Javier would make his sixth appearance of the season but did not factor into the decision. Javier would complete two innings of work for the Aggies. Striking out one with three hits allowed. Tate Nebhut would be the next man up for the Aggies. Nebhut would only last an inning as the Rangers would see him well. Bringing around five runs on six hits against Nebhut.

Braeden LeJarraga would head to the mound after Nebhut's exit. LeJarraga shut down the Ranger offense in his four innings of work. Only allowing three with three strikeouts. After walking a batter in the top of the eight, Corbin Yandell would enter the game and attempt to shut down the Rangers. However, Yandell would be unable to do so as the Rangers would take the lead and eventually win.

Coming off a red hot series at the plate, the Aggie bats looked to continue their success against the Rangers. The Aggies would only notch three hits in their first time through the order. Senior outfielder Ethan Hunt would get the Aggies on the board in the third with a wall-banging triple to score Luis Dermas and Jhonn Cabrera. The Aggies would take the lead in the seventh off back-to-back doubles from Hunt and Applebury. After a five-run bottom of the eight for the Rangers proved too much for the Aggies to come back from in the top of the ninth.

Senior Ethan Hunt, once again, headlines the Aggie offense. Going a perfect five for five at the plate against the Rangers with six RBIs. Tying the program record for hits in a game. Hunt would also be a home run away from a cycle.

The Aggies return to conference play on on March 18th against the Texas Wesleyan Rams in Fort Worth, Texas. Playing a doubleheader starting at 12 PM.
