Aggies Fall in Series Finale

GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team fell in the final game against the Wayland Baptist Pioneers.

After splitting day one against the Pioneers thanks to some timely hitting the Aggie bats would be quiet for the majority of the series finale. The pitching staff would also see their fair share of struggles in the game by giving up sixteen hits in the game.

Joaquin Carlos would designate the start and earn the loss for the Aggies. After having been chased after a single inning of work Corbin Yandell would head to the mound for the Aggies. Yandell would cool the Pioneer hitters off in his two innings of work. Striking out three in that span. Colton Anderson would then make his second appearance in the series. Allowing five runs in his three innings of work. Tate Nebhut would be the final Aggie to see the mound in the loss. Tossing two innings with three strikeouts.

The Aggie hitters would be held to single-digit hits for the sixth consecutive game in the finale. Despite getting the lead-off batter on base in six of the eight innings, the Aggies would only be able to produce a single run. The lone run coming after senior catcher Zack Madrigal led the inning off with a double down the left-field line. Luis Dermas would bring his pinch runner (Ryan Mitchell) around to score with a single up the middle.

Panhandle State baseball will head to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on Southwestern Christian Eagles. Starting Friday, April 22nd at 12 PM.
