Box Score 2 GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball team continued their historic season in their final two games against the Central Christian Tigers. Eclipsing the Aggies' 2019 30-win season with the series sweep over the Tigers.
The Panhandle State Aggies did not waver on the second day of the two-day series with the Tigers. Outscoring them 24-2 in the games. Every Aggie would record at least one hit and one run on the day.
Game 1
Looking to secure a series victory, the Aggies jumped out to an early lead in game three and refused to take their foot off the gas. Scoring eight unanswered runs and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard until the fifth inning.
Sarah Conley remained electric in the circle for the Aggies. Flirting with a perfect game against the Tigers. Conley would finish her fifteenth complete game of the season. Striking out four Tigers in her five innings of work.
The Aggie offense continued their tear at the plate in game three. Collecting double-digit hits for the seventh time in their last eight games. An explosive first inning would carry the Aggies to another run-rule victory. Senior shortstop
Kinzie Jones would get the Aggies on the board first with a 2-run inside-the-park home run. Phylzan "Yaya" Jones would single another run in for Panhandle State before
Tatum Trester and Jones both scored on Tiger errors.
Freshman
Chloe Browning would make her first start as an Aggie in game three. Extending the lead in the third to 7-0 with a two-RBI single down the right-field line to score Jones and Lord. Jones and Trester would add a couple more singles of their own in the fourth.
Game 2
The Aggies did not take a step back despite having secured their third consecutive conference series win. Once again notching double-digit hits and runs in the series finale for another run-rule victory.
Kenley Yocom earned her ninth win of the season in the finale. Tossing four complete innings of one-run ball for the Aggies. Striking out two in that span.
Rylin Baker would come in to close out the game for the Aggies in the fifth. Allowing only a single hit in her outing.
The Aggie bats continued to impress at the plate. Scoring eight in the first inning alone off singles from
Kinzie Jones,
Kaitlyn Lord,
Tatum Trester,
Caitley Adams,
Chloe Browning, and
Haley Saur. Yocom would keep the Tigers relatively quiet until the third inning. The Tigers would score a single run after an Aggie error to cut into the Aggie lead.
Brielee Daniell earned that run back in the bottom half of the inning as she scored
Caitley Adams.
Kayli Grove would add another for the Aggies in the inning with an RBI single. Once again, Daniell would extend the Aggie lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. Setting the table for a bases-clearing triple from
Kinzie Jones. Ensuring the Aggies' 15-1 victory.
Senior shortstop
Kinzie Jones now takes sole possession of the single-season RBI record with 52 RBIs after her performance against Central Christian. Breaking the previous record of 48.
Panhandle State Softball hits the road for a split weekend against the Oklahoma City Stars and the Southwestern Christian Eagles. First pitch against the Stars is set for Friday, April 22nd at 5 PM.
