Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Women's Soccer Team took on Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). Although the game ended in a 4-0 loss for OPSU, the Aggies displayed tremendous determination and skill throughout the match.
In a tightly contested first half, both teams fought valiantly, resulting in a scoreless draw at halftime. OPSU's goalkeeper, Mya Szymanski, was instrumental in keeping the Aggies in the game with an impressive five crucial saves during the initial period.
Nila Munoz made several remarkable attempts on long shot free kicks. Rebecca Herriotts also had a shot on goal along with Mallory Maltese.Â
However, the second half saw a shift in momentum as SAGU capitalized on their opportunities, converting four out of six shots on goal. While SAGU had nine shots in the first half, they were unable to find the back of the net, thanks to the exceptional efforts of Mya Szymanski.
OPSU's Head Coach, Evan Camperell, commented on the match, saying, "Our game plan against SAGU was to play the long ball, with the goalkeeper punting the ball far down the field. SAGU excelled in winning the 50/50 balls, and we need to be more aggressive in securing those opportunities. It could have potentially eliminated some of the quick goals we conceded early in the second half."
The OPSU Women's Soccer Team remains determined and focused as they prepare for their upcoming road game against John Brown University. The Aggies will face off against their opponents with renewed vigor and a commitment to improving their game.
The next match is scheduled to kick off at 11 AM on Saturday, providing another opportunity for OPSU to showcase their skills and resilience on the field.
