Aggies Drop Second Game of Queens Classic

Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies women's basketball team matchup against the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles on the second day of the WBU Queens Classic.

The first quarter saw the Aggies facing a tough challenge as they trailed behind with a score of 9-21 against the Eagles. At the halftime the score stood at 26-40, with the Aggies still in contention.

One of the positives of the game was OPSU's exceptional performance on the boards. Securing an impressive 12 offensive rebounds, the Aggies converted these opportunities into 11 crucial second-chance points, showcasing their commitment to dominating the glass.

As the game progressed into the third quarter, the Eagles maintained their lead, finishing with a score of 64-43. Despite a commendable effort by the Aggies, the final whistle blew with a score of 85-59 in favor of Texas A&M-Texarkana.

Leading the charge for the OPSU Aggies was Sierra Tate, whose outstanding contributions included 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Tate's exceptional performance demonstrated her versatility on the court. Mariah Williams also made her mark, going 2-3 from beyond the arc and contributing 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Head Coach Greg Ray commented after the game on his teams performances over the weekend, "We introduced some new parts to the puzzle this week. And anytime you do that, there will be an adjustment period. We're trying to figure out combinations and learn how to play with each other. We did see some things we liked in both games. Taking care of the ball and defending at a high level will be our focus going forward. The rest will come as these young ladies get more experience against other teams."

Looking ahead, the Aggies are ready to continue their journey in the upcoming exhibition game. On Friday, November 17th, OPSU will face Northwestern Oklahoma State University at home, with the tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM.
