Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies drop to Stars in a heartbreaker

The OPSU men's basketball team encountered a gripping battle against Oklahoma City University, resulting in a narrow 78-80 loss. Despite an early deficit in the first half, where the Stars took an initial 10-0 lead within the opening minutes, the Aggies showcased an impressive second-half resurgence.

Trailing 28-40 at halftime, the Aggies demonstrated resilience and determination, narrowing the score gap. A pivotal moment the Aggies arrived when Joe Greaves drained a crucial three-pointer at 9:49, tying the game at 57-57. The intensity soared as both teams fiercely contested, exchanging shots and maintaining a tight contest until the final moments.
Although the Stars clinched the win in the closing seconds, the Aggies exhibited an astounding performance in the second half, outscoring the opposition 50-40 and shooting a commendable 54% from the field. Abdulh Diaby delivered a standout performance, contributing 24 points and securing seven rebounds, while Fred Robinson IV showcased his versatility with 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

After the game, Coach Belt stated, "Lot of down faces in the locker room today. Why? Because despite the game ending on FTs we know we didn't show up in the first 7 mins of the game. Yet again, a bad start was too much for us to overcome. We've gotta learn and adjust quickly. We also have to figure out how to stop fouling at the end of games. This is twice now a game has ended on FTs against us. We will learn, we will improve."

Looking ahead, the Aggies will return home to face Wayland Baptist University on December 12th, gearing up for an exciting matchup set to commence at 8:00 PM. The team's determination and resilience in the face of adversity bode well for their upcoming games, and fans can anticipate an intense battle as they aim for a triumphant performance in their subsequent encounter.
