GOODWELL,Okla— In a thrilling conference matchup, the OPSU Aggies faced off against Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. The game was packed with exciting moments and intense competition, resulting in a final score of 16-31 in favor of the Rams.
The game began with the Rams taking an early lead with a field goal. However, the Aggies quickly responded with a remarkable 60-yard kickoff return by Draylon Robertson.
Alan Munoz nailed a 25-yard field goal attempt, leveling the score at 3-3.
The Aggies' offense continued to shine when Brandon Stephens made an impressive 87-yard rush to bring the team to the Rams' one-yard line.Stephens capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run, giving the Aggies a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. This touchdown was set up by a fumble forced by Jazzir Merricks, who returned the ball to the Rams' 12-yard line.
The momentum continued as Brandon Stephens connected with Draylon Roberson for a 4-yard pass, extending the Aggies' lead to 16-3..
In the second half, the Rams fought back with a touchdown, closing the gap to 16-14. However, the Aggies' defense held firm, preventing the Rams from converting a two-point conversion.
The fourth quarter saw a determined Rams team taking the lead with a rushing touchdown, making the score 16-22. Despite the Aggies' efforts, the Rams managed to add to their lead, securing a final score of 16-31.
On the defensive side, Alex Holguin recorded his first interception of the season. Jazzir Merricks had an outstanding game with 11 solo tackles and two forced fumbles, while Kameron Dickerson contributed six solo tackles, including two tackles for a loss of 10 yards.
