The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's volleyball team showcased an outstanding performance today, taking on Southwestern Christian University and securing a resounding victory in three straight sets.
The Aggies began the match with an impressive 25-13 victory in the first set. Taylor Alsaid led the charge with her remarkable performance, tallying 5 kills on 10 attempts with just 1 error. Her efficiency set the tone for the rest of the match.
The Aggies continued their momentum into the second set, clinching a 25-18 victory. Joelle LaForce emerged as a true force in the middle, leading the team with an impressive 11 kills on the night. Her relentless presence at the net kept SCU on the defensive throughout the match. OPSU showcased their exceptional serving skills, amassing a remarkable 13 aces to SCU's 2.
The Aggies didn't stop there; they dominated Southwestern Christian University in the serving department, racking up 13 aces to the Eagles' 2. In the third and final set, OPSU sealed the victory with a score of 25-16, completing the sweep of Southwestern Christian University. Head Coach Nick Serowski said after the game, "This was the first time we played as the OPSU Volleyball Team and we need to continue to build on that and we learned how to keep putting the gas on today."
Mia Sanchez had an outstanding night, delivering 29 assists, expertly distributing the ball to 5 different hitters and facilitating the team's dynamic offense. The passing of OPSU played a pivotal role in the Aggies' victory, contributing significantly on the defensive end with 8 digs from Kensey Clifton and 6 each from Nyah Ulmer and Bryanna Rosario.
The Aggies are gearing up for their next home game, which coincides with the university's homecoming weekend. OPSU will take on MACU next Friday at 6 PM.
