Goodwell, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie women's soccer team took a hard-fought 4-1 loss at home against John Brown University on Saturday. Despite a valiant effort from the Aggies, JBU's offensive momentum proved challenging to overcome.
The game opened with JBU's Katherine Keys striking twice quickly during the 24th minute. These back-to-back goals set the tone for the first half, which ended with JBU leading 2-0.
The Aggies responded early in the second half, with Yaddelis Alderete finding the net in the 47th minute, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Alderete's unassisted goal energized the Aggies and the crowd, but JBU answered swiftly with a goal in the 53rd minute, extending their lead to 3-1. JBU's Lauren Walter added one more in the 72nd minute, sealing the final score at 4-1.
The Aggies managed two shots on goal for the game, both of which came in the second half, reflecting their intensified efforts to break through JBU's defense. Goalkeeper AlaraLynn Gunderson made five saves for OPSU, helping to limit JBU's high-powered offense, which recorded 23 total shots with nine on target.
