GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies volleyball team faced two formidable opponents over the weekend, head-to-head with John Brown University and College of the Ozarks in tough road matchups. Despite hard-fought efforts, the Aggies were defeated in three competitive sets in both contests.
In the match against John Brown University, the Aggies showed resilience, pushing the Golden Eagles in each set. However, John Brown prevailed with scores of 25-22, 25-8, and 25-18.
Ava Newby led the Aggies' offense with 13 kills, while
Taylor Silva and
Brenna Moore contributed seven and four, respectively.
Brenna Moore also served up three aces, and
Taylore Alsaid added two.
Nyah Ulmer recorded a team-high 14 digs on defense, while Alsaid and
Teagan Mendoza-Werner each tallied 10.
The following day, the Aggies took on College of the Ozarks, once again putting up a determined fight but ultimately falling short in three sets, with scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-16. Newby led with nine kills, while Silva and Moore added seven apiece.
Brenna Moore played a significant role at the net, notching four blocks alongside Newby's four and
Emma Coburn's three. Ulmer directed the offense with 27 assists and added 12 digs to her impressive defensive performance. Alsaid and Silva chipped in with 11 and 9 digs, respectively.
