Goodwell, OK – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Northern New Mexico College, ultimately falling 88-37. The Aggies now stand at 0-2 for the season.
The first quarter set the tone as Northern New Mexico emerged strong, establishing a 17-9 lead. The Eagles continued their momentum in the second quarter, scoring 27 points and taking a 44-23 advantage into halftime. Despite their best efforts, the Aggies struggled to keep pace with the Eagles' offensive efficiency and faced a challenging second half, scoring just 14 points across the final two quarters.
Diana Santos led the Aggies with a double-double performance, tallying 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Santos' aggressive play and ability to reach the free-throw line paid off, where she made six attempts. Mariah Gardner also provided a spark off the bench, contributing 7 points and securing five rebounds.
Offensively, the Aggies could not find a rhythm, shooting 27.9% from the field and just 17.6% from three-point range. Turnovers also hindered their efforts, as the Aggies committed 27 turnovers, which Northern New Mexico converted into multiple fast-break opportunities. Furthermore, the Eagles' ball movement and defensive pressure made executing their offensive sets challenging for the Aggies.
