Goodwell, OK—The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie women's basketball team faced a tough road matchup against the University of Science and Arts (OK), resulting in a 68-43 loss. Despite a strong defensive start, the Aggies could not hold off a second-quarter surge by the Drovers.
The Aggies led 12-10 after the first quarter, showcasing early intensity on both ends of the floor. However, USAOfound their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring OPSU 21-6 to take a commanding 31-18 lead into halftime.
Diana Santos led the Aggies with 14 points, connecting on 5-of-8 field goal attempts and converting all four free throws. She also grabbed seven rebounds, tying for the team-high.
Molly Jones added nine points, shooting 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, while Heidi Rodriguez contributed seven points and three rebounds.
Despite their best efforts, the Aggies struggled offensively, shooting 27% from the field and committing 20 turnovers. In contrast, the Drovers capitalized on their scoring opportunities, extending their lead with a dominant fourth quarter.
Head Coach Wiltzius reflected on the performance: "We started strong but lost momentum in the second quarter. We must focus on minimizing turnovers and executing better offensively as we move forward."
