Softball: Season Preview

Goodwell,Okla—The softball team is gearing up for an exciting season under the leadership of new head coach Jim Walker. Entering his first year with the Aggies, Walker brings a wealth of experience and an impressive career. His arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter for the program, as he aims to lead the Aggies to success both on and off the field.

The season kicks off in Alexandria, Louisiana, with the Generals Showdown. The Aggies will face Louisiana Christian University on February 7 at 3:00 PM on Field 1 and America's Sports University later that evening at 6:00 PM on Field 4. 

On February 8, the Aggies take on Louisiana State University Alexandria at 10:30 AM on Field 2 before concluding the weekend against Texas A&M-Texarkana at 12:30 PM on Field 4.

The following weekend, OPSU travels to Kansas City, Missouri, for the Avila Tournament, featuring several challenging contests. On February 14, the Aggies will face Sterling College (Kan.) at 1:00 PM and Doane University at 3:00 PM. The action continues on February 15 with games against Columbia College (Mo.) and Missouri Valley College.

Conference play begins on February 21 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, with a four-game series against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.), one of the top teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Aggies will play doubleheaders on February 21 and February 22, with games scheduled at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Friday and 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on Saturday.

From February 28 to March 1, the Aggies will travel to Hobbs, New Mexico, for a non-conference series against the University of the Southwest (N.M.). This series will be followed by a return to Goodwell for the Aggies' conference home opener against Texas Wesleyan University on March 7-8. The Aggies will play doubleheaders each Day at Jim Quimby Field, with first pitches set for 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Friday and 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on Saturday. 

The season continues with road series against Langston University, Wayland Baptist University, and Nelson University, interspersed with home matchups against Mid-America Christian University, Central Christian College (Kan.), and Southwestern Christian University.


Senior Day will be celebrated on April 26 during the final home series against Southwestern Christian University. The Aggies will honor their graduating players in the last doubleheader of the regular season at Jim Quimby Field, with games scheduled at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
