Goodwell, OK – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies baseball team faced a formidable opponent this Saturday, falling to the Mid-America Christian University Evangels with a final score of 2-16 in a single nine-inning game. This loss concluded a challenging three-game series against the Evangels, where the Aggies could not secure a win.
The Aggies' starting pitcher,
Colby Diduch, pitched for three innings, during which he allowed seven runs off eight hits. The bullpen saw efforts from
Kiebert Medina,
Esai Torres,
Zach Mayhew, and
Tate Nebhut in attempts to stifle the Evangel's offense. Despite the team's efforts, the OPSU Aggies struggled to close the gap created in the early innings.
The Aggies scored runs in the second and third innings. In the second,
Bill Bonner doubled to center field, bringing
Aiden Davis home for the Aggies' first run.
David Garcia followed up in the third with a double down the right-field line, driving in
Jose Arrieta to add a second run.
After the series, Head Coach
Shawn Joy commented, "We were bad all weekend. This was the worst we played all year. They are one of the best teams in our conference, and they proved it. We need to come out ready play Tuesday".
Looking forward, the OPSU Aggies will return home on March 26th to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
