GOODWELL, OK—The OPSU Aggies played the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers in a critical conference double-header with only two weeks left of the regular season. Despite the outcome, the Aggies lost 2-7 in the opener and 0-1 in a tightly contested second game.
In the first game, USAO took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on some critical errors by the Aggies to push across four runs. Despite a valiant effort to chip away at the deficit — highlighted by RBI errors from Jose Arrieta and Aiden Davis that brought OPSU within five — the Aggies could not overcome the early Drovers' surge. The Aggies left ten runners on base in the game.
Starting pitcher Josh Doerr allowed seven runs, four earned on ten hits over five innings of work.
The second game was a nail-biter. Colby Diduch pitched a remarkable six innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six. However, the Drovers' lone run in the seventh inning was enough to secure the win.
Head coach Shawn Joy commented, "Doerr and Diduch threw very well and gave us a chance to win. We need to come out tomorrow and want to win."
Looking Ahead
The Aggies are set to conclude the series against USAO tomorrow, with a nine-inning game scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
