Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball:Upset RV Texas Wesleyan University

Goodwell, Okla. A shocking performance Saturday night as the men's basketball team delivered a thrilling 73-66 victory over RV Texas Wesleyan University Saturday night, snapping a five-game skid against the Rams and securing their first win in the series since 2019 at home. This victory also marks the Aggies' first win over a receiving-votes opponent since February 12, 2022, when they edged the Rams 70-69 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Aggies overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to rally for the victory. Texas Wesleyan led 37-26 at the break, but the Aggies chipped away at the margin throughout the second half.

Abdulh Diaby put the Aggies on the board early with a layup at the 18:02 mark of the first half. Despite the Rams controlling the first 20 minutes, the Aggies refused to fold. A layup by Tahki Chievous on a fast break and a clutch three-pointer by PJ Daniels in the second half ignited the Aggies' comeback.

With just 1:37 remaining, Diaby's layup tied the game at 66-66. Amaree Brown sank two shots to give the Aggies a 69-66 lead with 29 seconds left. Daniels sealed the game with four more free throws in the final seconds.

Stat Leaders:

The Aggies shot an impressive 53.85% from the field in the second half, including 50% from beyond the arc, and outscored the Rams 45-29 after the break. The defense also forced crucial turnovers down the stretch, converting them into 15 points on the night.

Game Highlights:

  • Points in the Paint: 26
  • Fast Break Points: 4
  • Bench Points: 16

This win gives the Aggies momentum as they prepare for their next road matchup against Nelson on January 30 in Waxahachie, Texas, at 8:00 PM.
