Smith, Green Lead Shooting Sports at Hastings Invitational

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State shooting sports team continued its season Oct. 4-5 at the Hastings Invitational, where it took 15th of 17 squads overall.
 
The competition featured four events, with three different Aggies leading the team in various areas.
 
OPSU hit 420 out of 500 targets collectively in skeet shooting, where Rhett Green impressed with a score of 91. Cam Smith, Zane Doehring and John Lindley all hit at least 85 of 100 targets in the event as well.
 
Green also led the Aggies in sporting, hitting 57 of 100 targets, while Smith was right behind with 56 hits.
 
Smith had the best performance for Panhandle State in super sporting by 10 targets, notching a score of 65 out of 100.
 
Trap shooting saw OPSU hit 378 of 500 targets, with Austin Tipton scoring 83 of 100. Taylor Blickenstaff and Luke Yelton also shot well in the category, turning in scores of at least 75.
 
What's up next: OPSU has the week off before it travels back to Grand Island, Nebraska, for an ACUI competition from Oct. 18-19.
