WAXAHACHIE, Texas — The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball team (15-13, 13-8 SAC) was swept 18-25, 17-25, 17-25 Friday evening at Nelson (21-9, 19-2) in the penultimate match of the regular season.
Though OPSU got out to an early lead in all three sets, the Lions proved to be too much for the visiting Aggies in the end.
Nelson hit .250 in the match and had 11 more digs than the normally reliable OPSU defense.
Elena Kagiali put together another strong performance with 15 kills at a .231 clip, while
Ava Newby chipped in six kills.
Winiffer Rodriguez led the defense with 15 digs, and
Emma Coburn recorded a solo block and two block assists up front.
What's up next: OPSU finds itself fifth in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings heading into Saturday's regular season finale at Texas Wesleyan (22-6, 19-2), where it will need a win plus help to host an opening-round playoff game on Nov. 12. The Aggies have already clinched a playoff spot, however.
