Goodwell, OK. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball team put up a tough fight on Senior Day but fell to Southwestern Christian University 58-33 on Saturday afternoon at Anchor D Arena.
The Aggies started strong, utilizing their size advantage to attack the paint early. Junior forward Lyric Carpenter led OPSU with 12 points, going 5-of-9 from the field, while Diana Santos added 10 points and four rebounds. Jana Radovanovic also contributed with six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Despite their early efforts, the Aggies struggled to maintain offensive momentum in the second half. After scoring 20 points in the first two quarters, OPSU managed only 13 in the final 20 minutes. Southwestern Christian capitalized on the Aggies' offensive drought, outscoring OPSU 26-13 after halftime.
"Our game plan today was to play on the interior. We had the size advantage against this team, and all three of our bigs were contributing in the first half," said Head Coach Wiltzius. "We got away from that and didn't get the ball inside in the second half, which hurt us."
Southwestern Christian was led by a balanced scoring attack, with four players contributing at least eight points. Their defensive pressure limited OPSU to 27% shooting from the field, including 1-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Molly Jones and Jana Radovanovic were recognized for Senior Day.
