Aggie Softball Claims Series Win Against University of the Southwest

Goodwell, OK – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball team showcased their dominance over the weekend, securing three victories in a four-game series against the University of the Southwest. The Aggies displayed strong offensive performances and clutch pitching to claim the series.

Game 1: The Aggies Set the Tone with an 8-1 Victory. The Aggies wasted no time establishing their presence in the series opener, scoring four runs in the first inning. Erin Hornback, Melissa Carroll, and Marin Jacobs led the charge, driving in key runs early. Jacobs also delivered on the mound, allowing just one unearned run while striking out multiple batters to earn her fifth win of the season. The Aggies tallied 13 hits in the contest, with Carroll and Jacobs each contributing multi-hit performances.

Game 2: Late Rally Falls Short in 8-7 Loss Despite a 16-hit effort, OPSU fell in a close battle in the second game. The Aggies built a 7-2 lead through four innings, fueled by timely hits from Hornback, Vasquez, and Marron. However, the Mustangs responded with six unanswered runs, including the game-winning RBI single in the seventh. Marin Jacobs suffered the loss despite a strong offensive display from her teammates.

Game 3: Hornback's Homer Propels Aggies to 4-2 Win A two-run home run from Erin Hornback in the fifth inning proved to be the difference-maker as the Aggies rebounded in Game 3. Trinity Higgins provided a spark at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Rylin Baker earned her first win of the season, limiting the Mustangs to just two runs on five hits while the defense remained steady behind her.

Game 4: Clutch Seventh-Inning Surge Seals Series Victory The final match remained scoreless through six innings before OPSU's bats came alive in the seventh. Gracie Lankford's two-run double, followed by a clutch RBI triple from Leiyah Ayala, lifted the Aggies to a 3-0 win. Jacobs returned to the circle and delivered a dominant shutout performance, allowing only two hits to secure her sixth win.
