Aggie Softball Splits Doubleheader with Texas Wesleyan

GOODWELL, OK. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball team showcased their offensive firepower in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader against Texas Wesleyan University, securing a dominant 16-3 victory at Jim Quimby Field. However, the Aggies could not complete the sweep, falling 18-5 in the second game.

Game 1: Aggies Explode for 16 Runs in Commanding Win

The Aggies (7-8) overcame an early 3-0 deficit with a monstrous third and fourth inning to secure the run-rule victory. After plating five runs in the third, Panhandle State erupted for an 11-run fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

Melissa Carroll jumpstarted the Aggie offense with a crucial two-run double. Marin Jacobs delivered a key two-run double in the third inning to give OPSU the lead. Halle Zupan smashed a bases-clearing double to extend the Aggie advantage. Gracie Lankford and Kaylynn Du Preez also added to the Aggies' offensive onslaught.

Jacobs earned the win in the circle, allowing just three runs on seven hits while striking out three.

Game 2: Texas Wesleyan Responds with Offensive Surge

Texas Wesleyan (8-7) turned the tables in the second game, putting up 18 runs on 15 hits to take game two.

The Aggies started with two first-inning runs on a Haeley Vasquez sacrifice fly and a Melissa Carroll RBI groundout. Carroll remained a bright spot, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a two-run double in the fifth inning.

Despite the offensive effort, OPSU struggled defensively, committing six errors that led to multiple unearned runs for the Rams. Texas Wesleyan broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from A. Darilek.

Cadence Yocom took the loss for the Aggies, allowing six earned runs over four innings.
