Goodwell, OK. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies wrapped up their four-game Sooner Athletic Conference series against Oklahoma City University on Friday afternoon, falling in both ends of the doubleheader at Ann Lacy Stadium. The Stars took control in Games 3 and 4, defeating the Aggies 10-2 and 9-0 to claim the series.
Game Three – Oklahoma City 10, OPSU 2 (5 Innings)
The Stars struck early and often in the first game of the day, plating three runs in the first inning and six more across the second and third to build a 10-0 advantage.
The Aggies fought to avoid the run rule in the fifth inning, putting two runs on the board. Marin Jacobs led off with a hit and eventually came around to score on an RBI flyout from Audi Pettaway. Moments later, Halle Zupan stole home during a double steal with Haeley Vasquez, giving OPSU its second-game run. Despite the late push, the deficit was too large to overcome.
Rylin Baker took the loss for the Aggies, with Cadence Yocom providing relief.
Offensively, Summer Marron and Kaylynn Du Preez led the way with two hits apiece, while Vasquez and Jacobs added one each to round out OPSU's six-hit effort.
Game Four – Oklahoma City 9, OPSU 0 (5 Innings)
In the series finale, Oklahoma City again used a big second inning to seize control, scoring six runs on five hits and two Aggie errors. The Stars added three more in the fourth to extend their lead to 9-0.
Marin Jacobs (18-11) started in the circle for OPSU and also contributed one of the team's two hits. Trinity Higgins recorded the other with a single in the first inning, but the Aggies could not string together enough offense to mount a comeback.
Defensively, OPSU committed five errors, contributing to four unearned runs for the Stars.
Despite the tough results, the Aggies continue to show moments of grit and growth as they push forward in conference play.
