OKLAHOMA CITY — The Sooner Athletic Conference announced Tuesday its Runners of the Week for Cross Country, and Shania Chavez was awarded the honor for OPSU.
 
At the Mustang Derby in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Thursday, Chavez defeated every runner from each of the SAC teams participating in the race en route to taking 17^th of 67 total competitors.
 
The 4k race saw Chavez clock a time of 15:37.4, which broke the Panhandle State women's record for that distance.
 
Chavez' honor is her first as an Aggie, and it marks the first time any OPSU cross country runner has collected the award since at least 2023.

SAC Runners of the Week (Sept. 16)
