MCPHERSON, Kan. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball team (7-7, 4-2 SAC) won its fifth straight conference match with a road sweep, 25-18, 25-15, 25-22, Saturday afternoon at Central Christian College (2-10, 0-7), tying the Aggies' longest winning streak in the past four seasons.
OPSU had a huge day from the service line with 10 aces and just three errors – the fewest service errors from head coach
Ilani Dalton's squad this season.
Leading the performance was
Emma Coburn with a career-high four aces, followed by
Winiffer Rodriguez with three and
Taylor Silva,
Mia Sanchez and
Elena Kagiali with one apiece.
The Aggies opened the match continuing their strong attack from recent games with 14 kills in the opening frame.
After cruising to a first-set win, Panhandle State dominated the second set and held a lead of 24-16 in the third set. The Tigers threatened by rattling off six consecutive points, but a kill from
Rylie Kaopuiki-Kaikaina netted the visitors match point at last.
Sanchez led the Aggies in both assists and digs with 26 and 11, respectively. Kagiali recorded a team-high nine kills, while Silva added seven kills.
What's up next: OPSU looks to snag its longest win streak since 2021 when it hosts SAC-undefeated Texas Wesleyan (10-4, 7-0) Friday at 6 p.m.
