OKLAHOMA CITY — The Sooner Athletic Conference announced Tuesday that Oklahoma Panhandle State's
Trevor Youngblood had been named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for races run from Sept. 22-28.
Youngblood earned the nod following a school-record performance in Las Vegas, New Mexico, at the NMHU XC Jam. There, he rewrote OPSU history with a 7k time of 23:56, good for eighth place of 21 individuals.
Making the record even more impressive is the fact that the 7k was run at altitude – roughly 6,400 feet above sea level.
Youngblood's honor is the first in his cross country career, and it marks the Panhandle State men's first SAC Runner of the Week award since 2022.
Youngblood and the Aggies are gearing up for the home stretch of the season, beginning with the Golden Eagle Invitational at John Brown on Oct. 11.
