FORT WORTH, Texas — The Oklahoma Panhandle State women's basketball team (5-16, 2-13 SAC) fell 80-39 Saturday afternoon at Texas Wesleyan University (9-12, 5-10).
Jamie Baum was a positive in a tough day for the Aggies, scoring a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 accuracy and grabbing a career-best six rebounds off the bench.
The overall poor shooting for the visitors plagued them immediately, though, as TWU got out to an 11-0 start. Turnovers also hurt the Aggies in the first quarter, and they eventually were down 20, 31-11, late in the second period.
OPSU gained some offensive rhythm to close the half, entering the locker room trailing 35-18.
The improved rhythm carried over to the third quarter, when Baum started to do damage beginning with a successful and-one less three minutes into the frame. The forward continued to drive the offense in a 16-point quarter for Panhandle State, but the offense dried up again in the fourth as the Rams ran away with the contest.
Zamari Reece knocked down eight free throws in the game and added six rebounds.
La'Tommas Johnson-Nash snatched a team-high eight boards, while
Brooklyn Aska chipped in six points and had team bests with three assists and two steals.
What's up next: Panhandle State tries to get back in the win column when it returns home Thursday evening to face John Brown University (8-13, 6-9).
