GOODWELL, Okla. — For the first time in program history, the Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team has garnered a weekly honor from NAIA Ball, as
Genesis Nunez was named the organization's
Player of the Week from Feb. 2-8. Nunez earned the same status more locally from
Sooner State Baseball Report, in addition to his Sooner Athletic Conference award.
Nunez capped a terrific week with a three-game series versus York in which he went 8-for-12 at the dish with 10 RBIs, eight runs scored, two homers, two doubles and a triple. In five total games during the Feb. 2-8 span, the shortstop batted .579 with an on-base percentage of .652. His power to all fields led to a ridiculous on-base-plus-slugging percentage of 1.915.
NAIA Ball, founded in 2017, independently provides coverage of the NAIA baseball landscape, including podcasts, rankings, articles, weekly awards and extensive social media recognition and reporting of the biggest games and top players in the NAIA.
Sooner State Baseball Report covers Oklahoma baseball across all levels starting at high school, including a designated tab for the NAIA teams competing within the state.
Nunez and the Aggies (3-4) look to build on their momentum when they host Randall University on Thursday and Friday, with the pair of double headers beginning at 12 noon.
