OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Panhandle State women's basketball team (6-19, 3-17) played well defensively but could not get its offense going in a 54-44 defeat Saturday at Oklahoma City University (10-16. 6-14).
Mar'kia Pratt scored 18 points in the final road game of the 2025-26 campaign for OPSU, including a pair of buckets to bookend the first quarter. The Aggies otherwise struggled to score, as they trailed 13-8 after one.
Heidi Rodriguez immediately closed the deficit to one possession on a three-pointer in the second frame, and OPSU soon found a spark with
Emily Bray knocking down consecutive shots to hand Panhandle State a one-point advantage, 18-17, midway through the quarter.
Zamari Reece then finished on an and-one and grabbed a steal to push the Aggies' lead to four.
OCU closed the half on a 7-0 run, though, taking a 28-23 edge into the break.
Pratt connected on two baskets, including a triple, early in the third quarter to bring OPSU back within two at 30-28
The Stars seemingly seized control in the final 50 seconds of the third frame, and they continued to gain momentum to begin the fourth, ahead 46-35 after capitalizing on OPSU turnovers.
Brooklyn Aska momentarily gave the Aggies some life the second of two treys in the last frame, but a six-point deficit would be the smallest the visitors would face over the closing 10 minutes.
Pratt's 18 led all scorers in the game, while Aska and Bray chipped in six points apiece. Bray and Aska also led OPSU in rebounds with 10 and six, respectively.
Defensively,
Jamie Baum gave Panhandle State a lift with a career-high three blocks. Bray and Pratt recorded one block as well, and Reece and Rodriguez both notched two steals.
What's up next: Panhandle State returns home for its final week of play beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. versus RV Mid-America Christian (20-6, 15-5).
