GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's basketball team (6-20, 4-17 SAC) battled tough versus RV Mid-America Christian (19-8, 13-8) Thursday night in Anchor D Arena, but the shots weren't falling as the hosts fell, 76-64.
The Aggies dug an early hole, but two three-pointers from
Mike Carter helped them stay afloat. Later,
Ederick Coleman Jr. made a triple to bring OPSU within six, 27-21, with eight minutes remaining in the first half.
MACU increased its advantage to a dozen as time wound down on the opening period, but another trey by Coleman and a successful and-one from
Aaron Williams Jr. closed the gap to 43-33 at the intermission.
The Evangels quickly increased their lead to 16 and kept Panhandle State at bay as a poor shooting second half plagued the Aggies.
Despite the shots not falling, OPSU committed just 11 turnovers, got to the line 22 times with 19 makes, and outrebounded MACU on the offensive glass, 10-9, in a shorthanded effort.
Williams Jr. closed with 16 points, followed by Carter with 14 and Campbell with 11. Carter also tallied eight rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the Aggies.
Braedyn Ellison and
Jacob Taitte were both solid in reserve, combining for another 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Taitte also notched a block and a steal in 22 minutes of action.
