Johnson Advances to Nationals for Second Straight Season

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Oklahoma Panhandle State University equestrian team member Eva Johnson continues to make program history with an outstanding performance at the Western Semi-Finals. Johnson placed third in her open reining class, securing her qualification for the national championship for the second consecutive year.

With her top-three finish, Johnson earned a coveted spot at the upcoming national championship, set to take place May 1–3 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina. Her achievement not only highlights her consistency at an elite level, but also marks a historic milestone for OPSU, as she has now qualified for the semi-finals in back-to-back seasons and successfully advanced to Nationals both years.

By qualifying for the national championship in consecutive years, Johnson has set herself apart as one the top rider in OPSU history and within one of the top riders in the collegiate reining community. Her accomplishment reflects countless hours of training and a commitment to excellence that continues to elevate the OPSU equestrian program on the national stage.

OPSU Equestrian Head Coach Ward praised Johnson's performance and work ethic, stating, "I am so incredibly proud of Eva and all of her hard work. This is an impressive accomplishment that very few students accomplish in their collegiate careers!"
