GOODWELL, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University Athletics has named Marin Jacobs of softball and Cameron Smith of shooting sports as the Mack's Motorsports Aggies of the Week, spanning performances from Feb. 23-March 1.
The Aggie softball team split the series 2-2 against Nelson to open conference play, riding on the coattails of Jacobs' standout weekend. The 2025 Second-Team All-SAC pitcher began her 2026 conference campaign with a complete-game shutout in the opener, where she tallied three strikeouts and kept hitters off balance, forcing 10 groundouts and five flyouts. Jacobs also came in as a reliever in game 2, extending the extra-innings contest by allowing one earned run in 3.1 innings pitched. Jacobs rested in the third game before returning to the circle for the finale when the Bloomington, Indiana, native tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the Aggies' 10-0 victory. During the no-no, Jacobs issued just two walks while inducing seven pop outs and five groundouts against the 17 batters she faced. Jacobs completed her week with an ERA of 0.46, a WHIP of 0.99, and an opponent batting average of .200 while helping her own cause at the plate by going 3-for-7 with an RBI.
Smith and the OPSU shooting sports squad headed east to Arcadia, Oklahoma, for the OSU Cowboy Shootout. The team shot four different styles of clay targets, starting with trap, where Smith finished busting 90/100 targets. Next was skeet, where the senior would hit a squad-leading 91/100 clays. In doubles trap, Smith would again lead the Aggies squad knocking 71/100 targets out of the sky before completing the competition with the 5-stand, where he'd get 39/50, bringing his final scoresheet to a 291 out of the 350 possible targets. The four-year senior out of Covington, Oklahoma, started his final spring season strong and will look to follow that up as the team prepares for Nationals soon.
