GOODWELL, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University Athletics has listed rodeo's own Falyn Thomson and Luke Tippmann as the Mack's Motorsports Aggies of the Week from April 13-19 following their respective honors of being named All-Around Champions at the Fort Hays State Rodeo.
Thomson and the women's rodeo crew went north to Hays, Kansas, April 16-18 where the team put together quite the weekend, thanks in large part to the performances from its senior out of British Colombia, Canada. Competing in the team roping with fellow Aggie, Tippmann, and the breakaway, Thomson was named the All-Around Champion as the women's squad went on to win the rodeo. Thomson garnered the honors with an eighth-place finish in the breakaway, featuring a 2.3 third-place time in the long go. Where Thomson really shined though, was as the header for the team roping with Tippman as her heeler. The duo would go 7.5 in the long go and 7.3 in the short go to position the Aggies second in the average.
As a contributor to the runner-up team roping finish, which gave Tippmann and Thomson a share of the most points in the event at 140 apiece, Tippmann would also make the short go in the bareback. Across two rides, Tippmann placed fourth in the average with a total tally of 148 points. His showing was headlined by a 78-point ride in the first go. Given the freshman's top-five finish in the bareback and his efforts as the heeler in the team roping, Tippmann earned himself All-Around Cowboy honors for the second time in his career as he helped carry the men's team to a second-place finish on the weekend.
