WAXAHACHIE, Texas — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's and women's track & field teams are off to Waxahachie, Texas, to compete Friday and Saturday at the Sooner Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, presented by Digital Scoreboards.
The Aggies will kick things off Friday afternoon on Day 2 of the three-day meet hosted by Nelson University, following the conclusion of the heptathlon, 10,000-meters and decathlon events held Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.

OPSU's Friday starts at 2 p.m. with the women's hammer and men's discus throws. Discus, hammer, long and high jump events continue through the afternoon Friday, while the Aggie sprinters open competition with the 4x100-meter relays at 6 p.m. Other events Panhandle State athletes are set to compete in include the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 400-meters during the evening.
Saturday's field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m., with the Aggies looking to earn points in the shot put, men's javelin and women's triple jump. Track events pick up at 2 p.m. Saturday with the 100-meters, and they continue for sprinters, mid-distance and distance runners, culminating with the 4x400-meter relays, scheduled for 4:15 and 4:25 p.m.
Aggies to Watch – Women's Team: Performance Lists
Breyanna Kemp, the 2025 SAC Championships' Most Outstanding Athlete, enters the meet with the fastest 200-meters and fifth-fastest 400-meters times in the conference. She also looks to help lead a 4x100-meter relay squad hoping for a podium finish, alongside teammates that could include
Akia Bowens,
Paizlie Reyna-Mata,
Ashlynn Perez and/or
Ki'Anna Jones.
OPSU is also looking for strong showings in the 3,000-meter steeplechase from the duo of
Carolina Valenzuela and
Lillyan Gerow, who enter as the third and fourth seeds in the event.
Shania Chavez will have a chance to produce for the Aggies as their lone 5,000-meters runner, where she boasts the SAC's fourth-fastest time this year.
In the 800-meters, Jones has a chance to earn points for Panhandle State, as she enters with the seventh-fastest adjusted time in the SAC.
As for the field events,
Neo Trim will look for a good performance in the triple jump to aid the Aggies' cause, while
Avery Brown and
Brittney Carrasco hope to start the SAC Championships strong in the hammer throw and continue that momentum in their other throws throughout the meet.
Aggies to Watch – Men's Team: Performance Lists
While sprinters
Austin White,
Dillon Bruington and
Christian Soto are amongst the top 100- and 200-meters performers in the conference, the group as a whole has battled injuries, and the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams could see several guys in the mix as the Aggies pursue points.
Alan Martinez and
David Okorie look to steal points for OPSU in the 400-meters, and they could factor into the Aggies' relay efforts as well. Meanwhile,
Joshua Samaron and
Bramhan Matschek will go for top-eight finishes to add to the Aggies' totals in the 5,000-meters and steeplechase, respectively.
OPSU could rack up points in the throwing events should their core guys continue to build on a strong season. Namely,
Xavyer Mosqueda enters the meet having notched top-five marks in both the javelin and hammer throws.
Ayden Hendershot could also prove pivotal, as he boasts the second-best hammer throw in addition to a top-eight discus mark in the conference.
Wyatt Hamilton owns the fifth-best discus throw entering the SAC Championships, while
William Sirmans,
Aaron Vinson,
Jayden Blair and
Richmond Howell hope to be factors as well for the Aggies.
