GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team (11-24, 3-17 SAC) was on the wrong end of a pair of lopsided defeats Friday at Carroll Gribble Field as it dropped the first two games of the series, 18-4 and 19-3, to Science & Arts (14-18, 9-11).
Game 1: USAO put its stamp on the doubleheader early, quickly building an insurmountable cushion.
Pitcher
Timmy Trevino closed the game on the mound for the Aggies with two scoreless innings, and the home team's offense showed signs of life late.
Devin Lopez homered in the fourth inning, while
Michael Perry and
Danny Martinez drove in runs in the seventh on base hits.
Game 2: The Drovers put up five crooked numbers in the middle game of the series, again wasting no time putting the contest away.
OPSU's runs came courtesy of homers off the bats of
Neugyen Culmer and
Philip Matos, plus an RBI single by
Andrew Valencia.
Juan Perez led the Aggies with two hits in the nightcap.
What's up next: Panhandle State closes the series Saturday with a single game scheduled for 12 noon.
