Alejandro Hernandez of Oklahoma Panhandle State was recognized Tuesday on the College Sports Communicators 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, marking the second consecutive year he has earned the honor.
Hernandez, who earned OPSU's Male Scholar-Athlete Award as the institution's top-achieving student-athlete academically, maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major through all four years of working towards his degree. The Guaynobo, Puerto Rico, native started 36 games in 2026, hitting .248 and posting an OPS of .744. He finished second on the team with 30 runs scored, and Hernandez came through at the plate with five doubles, two triples and a pair of homers. Spending time in the field primarily as a second baseman, the senior was involved in turning nine double plays while committing just four errors in 112 chances.

About the CSC Academic All-America Program
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
CSC Academic All-District honorees are nominated by their respective institution's sports information department for exceeding high standards set as a student-athlete.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have achieved sophomore status academically, maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher and meet minimum playing-time requirements. Position players must either play in a minimum of 90 percent, or start in at least 66 percent, of his team's games throughout the season; pitchers, meanwhile, must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35-plus innings.
