Zavala was brought on as an assistant men's soccer coach for OPSU ahead of the 2025-26 season following a successful collegiate playing career at Texas A&M Texarkana, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.Â
While at TAMUT, Zavala was a four-year starter, totaling 61 matches played and tallying 14 points on four goals and six assists. As a midfielder and defender, Zavala helped lead his team to consecutive Red River Athletic Conference Tournament appearances. He also was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week from Sept. 9-15.Â
A decorated high-school athlete in Houston, Texas, Zavala was recognized as a three-time first-team all-district player for the Klein Forest High School boys' soccer team, a squad that made it to the state semifinals during Zavala's senior season.Â
